The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) is designed to fill the gap and shortage of labor in the Canadian Atlantic provinces as per the Atlantic Growth Strategy. New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador are some priority areas where there are full labor shortage problems. To fill out their crisis, this AIP program is formulated.
Focus on important areas when it comes under the AIP program overseeing the Atlantic Growth Strategy:
- To achieve a workforce and immigration goals
- Innovation at a great pace
- Clean growth and climate change
- Profitability in trade and investment
The AIP has 3 programs for skilled programs.
- The Atlantic High-Skilled Program
- The Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program
- The Atlantic International Graduate Program
Individuals meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply:
Workers Category
Work experience
The applicant should have a minimum of one year (1,560 hours total or 30 hours per week) of working experience in one occupation with different employers. He/she must have full-time, non-continuous, or part-time working mobility. Unpaid work experience does come under this category. Workers apply as either high-skilled workers or intermediate-skilled workers.
What are the different programs under AIPP?
AIPP stands for Atlantic High-Skilled Program.
High-skilled workers must have work experience and technical knowledge in their specific field at the National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B.
Job Offer
- Applicants have to possess an offer of a job that includes
- A job offered by an Atlantic province employer should be nominated by AIP.
- Work 30 hours per week, both non-seasonal and full-time, that falls under skill level B, A, or 0.
- Minimum duration of a minimum of 1 year.
- Provided by an accurate form of the Federal Government
Work Experience
Work for an employer for at least three years, working 30 hours per week for a total of 1,560 hours. Part-time, non-continuous, or full-time work is acceptable as long as it totals 1,560 hours.
The work has to be:
- You can be with a single employer, whereas you can work with multiple employers.
- At skill level B, A, or 0 under NOC—National Occupational Classification
- The experience can be obtained overseas or in Canada.
Education
Candidates are required to have:
- A post-secondary or secondary Canadian degree, diploma, or certificate; OR
- A certificate, diploma, degree, apprenticeship, or trade education credential from another country
In the case of overseas educational credentials, an ECA-Educational Credential Assessment is required to ensure their credibility and being Canadian. The ECA should classify education as having a Canadian Degree, Diploma, or Certificate at the post-secondary or secondary level in Canada. The ECA must also be obtained within 5 years of the date of application.
Language
Candidates are required to:
- must score CLB Level 4 on a language proficiency test for English or in NCLC-Niveaux de Competence Linguistique Canadiens for the French language.
- I have to give a language test and fulfill the required skill level for writing, reading, listening, and speaking.
- Procure the result within 2 years of the date of commencement of the application.
Clarification of Funds
Applicants must notify us with full proof that they have sufficient finances to support themselves and their family members when they are immigrants to Canada. The number of funds based on family size is exclusive to those non-immigrating members whom the applicant supports. The document is not needed if the candidate is living and working in Canada with a valid work visa.
AIPP: The Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program
Intermediate-skilled workers must have work experience at NOC skill level C, obtained from either inside or outside of Canada.
Job Offer
Applicants have to possess an offer of a job that includes
- A job offered by an Atlantic province employer should be nominated by AIP.
- Work 30 hours per week, both non-seasonal and full-time, that falls under skill level B, A, or 0.

- Provided by an accurate form of the Federal Government
The candidates should fill out the job employment requirements that are determined in the NOC. The applicant's occupation is not necessarily the same as the job seeker's.
